FAQs
What I should bring to class?
Bring a yoga mat, water bottle, and a large towel or sticky yoga mat. We provide blocks and straps. We also have yoga mats, yoga towels and water to purchase.
What should I wear to class?
Wear light clothes that wick sweat such as Lycra or dry fit materials. Do not wear big, baggy sweatshirts or t-shirts. These will be hot and will fall over your head in forward folds.
What is the best class for me?
If you are new to power yoga, we recommend taking our Beginner Power class first. You will get step-by-step instruction on the foundations of the sequence, the postures and the breath. You may also want to start with our Power Hour classes and build up to the 75 and 90 minute classes. This will allow you to acclimate to the heat and build stamina. If you do not like the heat, enjoy our Vinyasa/Yin or Yoga Nidra classes. These classes offer slower vinyasa style yoga in a warm room.
How many times a week should I practice?
For good results 3 or 4 classes per week. For Life Changing results 5 or 6 classes per week!
Why do you practice in the heat?
The heat helps to stretch the muscles without injury. It also helps lubricate and open the joints for mobility. The heat also conditions the internal organs to work at optimal efficiency. You will leave class feeling invigorated and purified!
How is Power Yoga different than other forms of yoga?
Power Yoga is a physical experience and can be vigorous and challenging at times. The sequence of postures is intended to strengthen the body and calm the mind. Through syncing the breath with postures, you will increase your vitality, stamina, and whole-body awareness.
Will Power Yoga give me a good workout?
Yes! This practice will improve your overall strength and your cardiovascular system. You will also increase your flexibility. Your practice will give you the whole-body strength and awareness to live life to its fullest!
What if I’m not flexible?
Come to yoga! You will get more flexible. Yoga will allow you to meet yourself where you presently are. Vinyasa/Power Yoga is a system of breathing that encourages adaptation and modification to accommodate each of us where we are. Flexibility is not a pre-requisite or a goal, it’s the by-product.
Should I eat before yoga?
Practicing on an empty stomach is ideal, but fruit or a light snack is fine. Avoid big meals less than 3 hours before class. Listen to your body! Everyone is different.
Is there a minimum age?
Participants should be at least 14-years old. All students between 14-17 should be accompanied by an adult.
What if I’m pregnant?
Always consult with your physician first. Make sure they know that the room is heated. You will have to modify your practice as your baby (tummy) grows. For example, twists and stomach poses should be avoided.
What do I do on the days I’m not in the mood for yoga?
Roll up your yoga mat and get to class! Yoga helps fight fatigue and reduce anxiety and stress. So if you’re tired and sluggish, cranky or anxious, come to yoga. You will never regret coming to class and taking care of yourself. Stay consistent and committed. Yoga works!
