Colleen Cavanagh

Although Colleen took her first yoga class in college, it was not until 20 years later that she realized how much a regular yoga practice enhanced her physical and mental well being. Drawn to the deep stretch possible in a heated space, Colleen's began practicing yoga at a Bikram studio. She continued practicing this style until Elephant Tree Yoga (ETY) opened up in Ipswich. The Vinyasa Flow sequence at ETY offered the heated physical practice that Colleen had come to love, but also incorporated a focus on mindfulness and the unification of body and mind through breathing. At ETY, Colleen found a warm community of like-minded people and a refuge from the stresses of daily life.

Colleen completed her 200 yoga teacher training with Tricia Philpott at ETY in May 2019. Her yoga classes follow the traditional Baptiste Power Vinyasa Flow sequence and are accessible to students at all levels. In her classes, Colleen offers participants a physical challenge and an opportunity to let go of stress, negativity and busyness of the mind.

When Colleen is not practicing yoga, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking with her dog, participating in group exercise classes and making playlists. She teaches math and computer science to high school students; running a yoga club at the high school brings her teaching worlds together.
